MilSpouse Friday Fill-in #2

02 July 2010

Wifey @ Wife of a Sailor Has started this fabulous way for us MilSpouses to get to know one of another. If you haven't already done it, click the above link, copy the questions, post and link up!

1. Tell us about your dream job… one that you could do regardless of pay.
To be a U.S. Marine. I have always wanted to join the Corps. Even looked into it before I got pregnant with 'Tater. But then she was conceived and I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving her behind for 3 months. It broke me apart just thinking about it. Then when she was older I thought about it again but got pregnant with my birth son. Then again a couple years later but by that point 9/11 had happened and the Corps was taking people left and right but single parents. I tried and tried but the waiver wouldn't go through so I gave up. There is not a day that doesn't go by that I don't think about what if.

   2. What is your most prized material possession (kids and pets don’t count!)?
Hmm sadly my Xbox 360. I am a horrible gamer but I play every chance I get. It allows for me to be a kid and have fun. I get to let my aggression out on it when I have a bad day. It always makes me laugh by the random stupidness that flows through the speakers by players. I absolutely ADORE my 360 and pink wireless controller.

   3. What has been your favorite duty station and why?

So far I've been to 29Stumps, Camp Lejeune, San Diego and now Fort Knox. I would have to say San Diego because of the close friends we had across the street. The vast amount of things to do, lots of sports for our kids, and of course our old church. I did love the Stumppers for the beautiful sunsets, awesome free kiddie pool, the dry heat, drive in movie theather. I even enjoyed raking lines in my dirt the night before yard inspections. BUT I loved Lejeune too. The quietness, the slow way of life. Being close to the beach all the time. Although I have all that minus the beach here at Knox. Gaah I really don't think I could just pick one place. Each place became a favorite because of memories and experiences. I can't single out one moment in my life that was the best over an entire 30 years. Total fail on this question.

   4. What is your least favorite household chore?
That would be a tie between cleaning toilets and putting away laundry. With Monkey never making in the toilet ALL the time, I hate it. Always have to scrub it at least 4 times a day. I just don't get why it's fun to a 3 year old to pee NEXT to the toilet vs. IN it. Or why he feels that when he looks to the right or left he has to aim to the right or left. So gross. And I hate putting clothes away. I hate that it takes so much time and energy going from each room and then finding things your older kids do in their rooms like hide candy wrappers or trash in their closet or dresser drawers. GAAAH No spankies. I do it but always crave a beer and a cabana boy to take me away.

   5. If you could give one piece of advice to a teenager today (not specifically a MilTeen), what would it be?
Have some faith in your self value. Do not sell yourself short. You will only wake up one day older and regret giving yourself away to so many people and things.

I'm horrible when it comes to laundry. I'll wash and dry it,then throw it on the couch outside the laundry room and there it will sit... I'd say I actually fold and put laundry away about once a month. *cringe*

Great answers!

Ooo we may have just become besties! I also rock the 360 with my pink wireless controller. And my husband is pretty much the worlds biggest smack talker when we play online. =) It's relationship building.

No! Seriously? That is so friggen awesome. My husband's trash talk rating is dropping (Thank the video game heavens) but this time last year he was rating at 98% of being reported. Drove me bonkers all the crap he'd spew. Sometimes I literally would just stop in my tracks and be blown away by the new combo of cut downs. lol My favorite cuss word is mother fudging trucker loving. I didn't mean to say it but the original sentence came out weird because I was drinking and playing Halo. lol

What do you play? I LOVE Halo and he's got me sucked into playing COD. But I hate that we can't play COD together at the same time since we have only one console right now.

Ohhh did you see the new 360? I'm drooling.

Okay shutting up now.

Oh gosh... cleaning the toilet is bad enough when my husband is home... I can't imagine with kids, let alone little boys. Ewww.

Thanks for participating and I hope you join us again next week!

I love playing games to relieve aggression...Burnout is great...I suck at racing, but I can ram my car to blow crap up in a heartbeat! Hubby is trying to teach me COD, but I'm not very good...I'm so proud of managing to kill more than 3, roflol.
